Creating Dreams Come True with ABC Creativity

January 5, 2010 - 12:14 am 2 Comments

Andrea at ABC Creativity is guiding us on this wonderful journey to make our dreams come true this year.  To read the initial post, and join in if you’d like check out her post here. Our first assignment was:

The big List of Dreams

  • start a list of however many dreams you can think of (small, medium and large dreams, silly dreams, serious dreams, important dreams, frivolous dreams – ask yourself “what do i want to do, be, or have?”)
  • post if on your website or blog (or facebook, or myspace, or anywhere!), if you have them. (if you don’t have your own site to post your list on, you will also be able to post it here in the comments section)
  • come back on sunday to share your list

posting it publicly is announcing to the world that these are your dreams and you are making them real now.  dreams that are hidden rarely come true.  even though it can be a scary move, when you put your dreams out there, you are providing them with more space to come into your life.

I’m a few days late posting mine, but in my new attitude of acceptance, I will just accept that I’m often late in getting things done.  Here is the list I made of my dreams for 2010:

1.  Do my Proverbs 31 workbook

3.  Complete my new video course

4.  Blog every day

5.  Paint upstairs bedroom and bathroom.

6.  Paint kitchen

7.  Teach a class locally

8.  Do more self discovery writing on my blog

9.  Read the blogs I subscribe to daily

11.  Re-do Waking Up eCourse

12.  Do more with my collection of quotations

13.  Paint more without worrying what anyone thinks of it

14.  Share my art with others more…be bold!

15.  Be as authentic with everyone as possible.

16.  Explore my less desirable traits and learn to accept them (don’t avoid them)

17.  Make a mistake every day

18.  Focus on love all the time.  Make that #1

19.  Explore/brainstorm ideas for more e courses

20.  Seek and try more art techniques

21.  Draw something every day

22.  Make at least one local friend

23.  Write letters to friends I haven’t kept up with

24.  Do more mail art

25.  Accept all opportunities that come to me

26.  Go to see my kids in Dallas and Midland

Your Dreams Can Come True, But You Have To Believe in Yourself

April 17, 2009 - 12:40 pm 3 Comments

This has been all over the news all over the world, so you have probably seen it already.  I  saw something about it on the tv a few times before I actually went and watched the video on YouTube.    I’m posting it here to bring your attention to this incredible story.  Please take a deep breath and allow yourself to really take in what is going on here.  Try not to see this as just a nice story.

All of us have creative talent.  And I believe that most of my readers have chosen to nurture that creativity.  However, our society has taught us that to be recognized as “an artist” you have to have an art  degree, or someone outside yourself must make that distinction.  Watch Susan Boyle in this video.  No one came to discover her.  She took the initiative to allow others to hear her talent.  She knows she has it.

I can’t imagine the courage it took for her to go on that show.   But before she goes on stage she says   “I’m going to make the audience rock.”  She didn’t worry about her looks or whether she was going to “make a fool of herself”.   (That’s one of my biggest fears.  The mean voice in my head is constantly saying “They’re going to make fun of you.”)    In a later interview on Good Morning America,  she talks about how kids made fun of her in school.  That’s a trauma she has probably carried with her all her life, and yet she still got on tv and faced Simon and risked being made fun of once again.   But in her heart she knew she could sing.

Now, sit back and really think about YOUR dream while you watch this video.  Allow yourself to believe in YOU.  I truly hope this inspires you to believe in yourself and know that you can make your dream come true.
