Bubble Wrap Calendar for Kids

When my son was quite young he had difficulties grasping the concept of time.  I knew my son was very visual so I created a way to try to help him visually relate to days coming and going.  I made a large calendar on poster board and blew up a small ballon for each day.  I taped the balloons on the calendar and before he went to bed each night I had him pop that day’s balloon.

It helped him learn about time, but today I saw this calendar that a man in NY created and I had one of those “whydidn’tithinkofthat?” moments. This is a brilliant way to help kids learn about days, weeks, etc.

Your child gets to pop the bubble for each day, signifying it’s end.  I’m not sure how this guy printed out such a large calendar but it would be easy to make your own on poster board.  It could be hung low on the wall so a child could reach each day.  I think I’d make mine only a month at at ime.  A while year is a lot for a wee one to grasp.
