I too am the Queen of Thrift Store shopping. There are two in our town I frequent FREQUENTLY! I find yarn, buttons, zippers, fabric, embellishments of all kinds, ribbons, never used stamps, etc. for my knitting/crocheting and art quilt projects. I also hit garage sales, and best buys included a Dell laptop computer for $25. (Excellent condition). One store gives 3 free books a visit. One store had a 5 cents each table of sewing notions. And $9 for as much clothing you can stuff in a bag. I am currently making purses/bags from these dresses, some with beading you wouldn't believe! Yesterday I sold a bag I made from a beaded dress. I figured the dress cost $1.44 and I sold the bag for $25. Such a deal!
I like finding your site!

Hanna, thank you so much for linking to my article. I wonder how much it would cost to mail you a scrabble box? They are fairly easy to find here. I love old papers, too! I rarely find them at thrift stores but I've gotten some great ones at estate sales. Do you have those in Sweden? Maybe I need to organize a thrift store swap? I'm thinking that from these comments it's apparent that each of us has our favorite things and we could swap out.

I think your advice are sane and good Zura! I'm a thrifter too and a collector and "hoarder" of things! I only wish the office supply ally would be bigger where I get most of my favorite finds. Old papers are my favorite thing to thrift, thought I've been looking for a scrabble box for ages and not found one yet. I don't think it's ever been a common game here in Sweden. Thanks for posting, I linked to this from my blog!

I know what you mean about getting caught in the trap of "but it's on sale!" or "but it's so cheap/such a good deal!". Let me tell you, it's 10x worse when you work at a thrift store and see everything that comes through (and also get the 10% employee discount). I used to work at ABVI Goodwill, and after I had quit and had gotten married and was moving out of my parents house, I found myself putting items in boxes to take to Goodwill that I'd originaly bought there!
