GPP Street Team and Photo A Day

One of the things I put on my dream/goal list for this year is to accept any opportunities that come to me.  An unexpected opportunity showed up yesterday.  I had subscribed to Michelle Ward’s GPP Street Team, but it had ended for 2009 so I had forgotten that I’d signed up.  Yesterday she posted a new “crusade”.  I just about skipped even reading it, then I recognized it as a new opportunity.

The new challenge she posted had to do with cutting and using paper snowflakes.  Sounds easy enough, I thought, so I tried it.  Apparently I have never made paper snowflakes.  I thought I had, but now I’m thinking that I must have tried it, failed miserably and decided to never try it again.  It took me forever! to cut out two half way decent ones.  But I persevered and did a journal spread.  It doesn’t look good, but I am proud of myself for actually doing it and in my new spirit of self-acceptance, I am even going to post a picture of it here.

The one Michelle did was beautiful, so please don’t make mine give you a bad impression of the challenge.  I am going to continue to do the challenges…after all that’s the purpose, to push me out of my comfort zone.  I just didn’t realize that cutting paper snowflakes was such a challenge for me.

My photo for today is the weather forecast. I snapped a picture of the forecast on the computer.   It’s going to be sleeting, snowing, strong north winds and wind chill temps down to -30 degrees!

It’s been a long time since I’ve done any folded paper cutting. I wonder if my grandchildren have done this. I need to put that on the craft to-do list.

I went to the grocery store yesterday because of the expectation of nasty weather. Our store is 17 miles away. :)

Hey Zura, welcome to the crusades! I’m so happy to have you join us at the streat team! I think you page rocks – your snowflake reminds me of summer dandelions! :-)

Moon, I hope your grandkids are better at the snowflakes than I am! lol How awful to live so far away from the store. I’d be burning up lots of gas if I lived that far away.

Thanks, Hanna for welcoming me. And thanks for the nice words about that page. It was a two page spread and now that I’ve actually journaled on it, it’s kind of growing on me. :)

I don’t know why, but your pictures aren’t showing up tonight. We used to have a grocery store in town but the old man that owned it wouldn’t let his son repair the roof and when the old man died the son ended up having to close it down because the repair, by then, would have been far too expensive. Anyway, being 32 miles from the big city, I started stocking up on items at Sam’s Club when I had a house full of kids to raise. We have a big freezer and have a nice basement that stays nice for storing packaged food. My grown children have been known to come shop at my house. LOL

Thanks for alerting me that my pics weren’t showing. I think I’ve fixed it now.

I can imagine why you had to learn to keep things on hand, especially when you had kids at home. That’s funny that your kids come shopping at your house :)
