What Do You Call A Mixture of Exhaustion and Bliss?

My two older grandchildren, Max 7, and Jack 6, have been here over a week with me.  It has been so wonderful to have this time with them.  In the picture above they are goofing around with their cousin, Rebekah.

I am used to a very slow pace and it has been challenging to say the least!  But I cherish this time with the boys.  They have a younger brother and sister at home, so when I’m with the whole family I don’t really get to spend any one-on-one time with the kids.  The past week we have had such wonderful chats.  We have made art like crazy!  They are both very gifted like their father.

Mister took us fishing last week and that was fun, except we didn’t catch any fish.  At first the boys acted like we were torturing them to make them fish.  But once they realized there are no tv’s, no fridge and not video games on a boat they got into the lazy flow of fishing.  And driving the boat was certainly a big treat!

Sunday we had Mister’s birthday party.   It is always nice to have his family and mine together for celebrations.  We are blessed that our respective kids like both of us, and are happy that we are together.   The grandboys and I all made gifts for him.  They made cards, too, and they were so cute!!!

I am taking the boys back to their mom and dad on Wed.  I’m going to miss them terribly, but I am ready for some rest, I have to admit.   I am spoiled by having a life that affords me to keep the schedule I want and do pretty much what I want, when I want.  It’s well worth the schedule challenges to have the kids here, but I couldn’t do this every day!

“What Do You Call A Mixture of Exhaustion and Bliss?” Grandchildren, baby! They look so adorable here…that’s a great picture. I can imagine they weren’t digging fishing at first…we live in such an overstimulated world…but I’m glad to hear that they settled down into it. Fishing’s one of those life activities that teaches you, about, well, life. :D

Are you just going to sleep for a day and a half when they leave?

Awwww, they sound (and look) adorable! Fishing is great fun – even if nothing gets caught. Its a great day out, and I’m glad they enjoyed it.

If I don’t see you around for a week or so, I’ll know that you are catching up on some rest, lol
